With its distinctly rural character and unbridled beauty in all seasons, the Murgia territory covers almost half of the area of the National Park of Alta Murgia, and is the most compelling part for its scenery and nature.
Municipalities
Canosa di Puglia, Gravina in Puglia, Minervino Murge, Poggiorsini, Ruvo di Puglia and Spinazzola: the Murgia territory consists of six inland municipalities of two provinces, with an area of over 1,200 square kilometres and a population of about 117,850 inhabitants.
Natural heritage
Here are found the highest peaks of High Murgia (Torre Disperata, 686 m. asl and Mount Caccia, 682 m. asl) and the largest forests in these provinces (Bosco Difesa Grande at Gravina and Bosco di Acquatetta between Minervino and Spinazzola), as well as other wooded areas of considerable natural interest, such as Bosco Scoparello of Ruvo di Publia and the Valloni di Spinazzola.
